Many singers and pianists told us about the difficulties they have to rehearse properly because of the Lock-Down. Other singers had methods to overcome this problem. What can we do?
- I know a stage director who holds his acting-class via Zoom (https://zoom.us) , and he says: it works not bad! perhaps just a good microphone is needed. If you need any advice before you buy a good and not expensive microphone, even a "second hand", Heinz Müller our "sound-man" in the society can give you some tips.
- Our conductor of the Lausitzer Barockensemble, while working with the singers last year on the opera we created (Lottis "Giove in Argo"), he "met" with them via "Messenger" or "What´s App". He played his violin or the cembalo and they sang. That worked.
Digital communication is not perfect but for the beginning, for deciding what tempi, which emotions and dynamics we use, perhaps it is enough. At the end, of course you must meet and work together.... :-)
- The problem with the neighbors, if you stay in a small apartment:... I wish really that you have good neighbors, that is so important for a musician. But if not, you have still the right to do your "home office" by singing, in the proper times (Germany 9-13, 15-22 o'clock).
- I am sure that not only me, but all of us in the Jury are going to understand every difficulty we/you had during the preparation for the competition. It will be "the best we all can do" in times of Corona.
