The Third International Lied Competition "Bolko von Hochberg" will take place between May 30 and June 4, 2026, in Görlitz, Germany, and Jelenia Góra, Poland.

Eligible to participate are professional singers and pianists of any nationality, up to 40 (from January 1, 1986) for singers, and 20 years or older for pianists.

After the registration of the duos (deadline: 28.2.2026), the jury will select and announce the participants until 15.3.2026. A maximum of 70-90 duos will be chosen to participate in the competition in Görlitz. The three phases of the competition are as follows:

FIRST ROUND at the Gerhart Hauptmann Theater in Görlitz: May 30, 31, and June 1, 2026

SEMIFINALS at the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra: June 3, 2026

FINALS at the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra: June 4, 2026

After the First Round in Görlitz, the competition will organize transportation for the semifinalists to Jelenia Góra. All phases of the competition are open to the public.

The registration deadline for the competition is February 28, 2026.

Participation is at participants´ own expense. The organizers can help young musicians with finding accommodation and travel to Görlitz.

The participation fee is €20 per musician (€40 per duo), payable to the association's account (via a Euro account):

The participation fee is non-refundable. All participants who wish it, can receive detailed feedback from the jury at any stage of the competition.

To register for the competition, the completed registration form must be sent to the following email address (liedcompetition@gmail.com) by February 28, 2026 (11:59 PM), along with the necessary documents:

1. Register via the online form (link) with the following information:

a. Contact details, date of birth, address.

b. A current short artistic biography of the singer and pianist (up to 1,000 characters) in German or English. Please do not include tabular biographies.

c. A link to a recent demo recording (two video recordings of a song/opera/oratorio). Please ONLY provide links to a YouTube or Vimeo platform.

2. Recent representative photographs of the singer and pianist (of good quality).

3. Scan of an ID card for both artists.

4. Proof of payment of the participation fee (€20) from each artist.

Note: Photographs and scans of ID cards must be submitted separately for both singers and pianists.

Further conditions:

- By registering, artists agree to the privacy policy. We treat the data of the artists confidentially and we don't share them with others (agents, festival directors, theaters) without first consulting the artists. They also consent to audio and video recordings of their presentation and the use of this presentation for advertising and press purposes. These recordings and images will not be used for commercial purposes and are available for participants after the competition (for free).

- Competition participants will be given the opportunity to use rehearsal rooms in Görlitz and Jawor during their stay.

- The competition organizer does not provide a score turner for the pianist.

- Organizers may help providing accommodation in Görlitz. Please contact us for further information.
