Makiko Kawaguchi

Year of birth:

1991

Makiko Kawaguchi studied at the “Musashino Academia Musicae” (Japan) and at the Cologne University of Music and Dance.

Her  many achievements include 1st place and in the song category at the 5th  Tokyo International Vocal Music Competition, prize winner at the 31st  International Singing Competition of the Schloss Rheinsberg Chamber  Opera and 2nd prize at the Vocallis Song Award 2022.

In  Tokyo she sang the title role in E. Humperdinck's “Hansel and Gretel”  and the title role in M. Ravel's “L’Enfant et les sortilèges”. In the  2016/17 season she received her first engagement at the Theater Aachen,  where she appeared in Puccini's “Suor Angelica” and “Il Tabarro”.

In  2019 she was an academic with the Berlin Radio Choir and took part in  many concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic, Berlin Radio Orchestra and  NDR Orchestra.

Nao Ueda

Pianist

The  Japanese pianist Nao Ueda studied piano at the Musashino Academia  Musicae in Tokyo, Japan, where she was greatly inspired by Yukari Koyasu  in the area of song creation. There she received her bachelor's and  master's degrees as the best in her class. In October 2019 she began her  studies with a focus on song design at the Hamburg University of Music  and Theater with Prof. Burkhard Kehring. She completed her master's  degree in May 2022 and the concert exam with distinction in June 2023.

In  2021 she won the 3rd duo prize at the Gustav Mahler Song Competition in  Hamburg and in 2022 she won the 1st prize at the Luigi Nono  International Chamber Music Competition.
